Symphony Festive Charity Drive

The proceeds from the rental of stalls for the Ramadhan Charity Bazaar together with contributions from the staff and management of Symphony totaled RM5, 200.00. From the collection medical supplies and foodstuff were purchased for distribution. Additionally, some employees donated foodstuff, reading materials, toiletries, stationeries, unused clothing and shoes.

The money and items were divided between Rumah Titian Ashraful Rohaniah, Teluk Intan, the underprivileged children from Sekolah Kebangsaan Balik Pulau, Penang and the Resource Centre of Sekolah Kebangsaan Balik Pulau, Penang. The visits to these different places were managed separately together with Symphonians from our regional offices in Ipoh and Penang.

Rumah Titian Ashraful Rohaniah

The entourage of eleven from Symphony House and five from the Ipoh regional office made it to Rumah Titian Ashraful Rohaniah at 11:00am on Tuesday, 14 August 2012.

It is a home for orphans, mentally and physically challenged individuals and senior citizens of all races. The home provides shelter and care for 67 people between the ages of ten months and 75 years old. A cheque for RM 2,000.00 and RM200 cash was handed over to Puan Rohana who runs the home with her husband and a staff of ten. On top of money, the home received foodstuff, books and stationeries, medical supplies, toiletries, unused clothing and shoes.

Underprivileged Primary School Children

Twenty primary school children from Sekolah Kebangsaan in Balik Pulau who are either orphans, children of poor fishermen with large families or sickly parents with no monthly income received cash totaling RM2, 500.00, as well as foodstuff, stationeries and unused clothes.

On Monday, 20 August, the Corporate Communication’s team together with Cikgu Azizah from Sekolah Kebangsaan Balik Pulau, visited the homes of five children in Kampung Acheh, Sungai Pinang, to present them with goodie bags filled with tidbits and stationeries and cash to their parents/guardians.

As it was quite a challenge to reach some of the houses in Sungai Pinang, it was decided that the team from Symphony Corporate House in Lebuh Farquhar, Penang would do the hand over of the items to the fifteen children at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Balik Pulau, Penang on Monday, 27 August when the school reopens after the Hari Raya break.

The team will be led by Chai Churn Hwa and they will also present the items for the resource centre which includes work books, reading materials, dictionary and stationeries to cater for the children at the school. Cikgu Azizah will distribute the unused clothes to the twenty selected families.

Thank you Symphonians and the management for being so supportive and generous in contributing your money, time, effort and kindness to the less fortunate through the different channels of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) organised by Symphony. We will continue with these charitable efforts during the festive seasons to ensure we keep those in need in our thoughts when we celebrate the good times.

Kepada semua ahli keluarga Symphony, Selamat Menyambut Hari Merdeka ke 55 pada tanggal 31haribulan Ogos ini. Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!
